Mumbai is one of the best places to eat-out in India. I love this city for the choices it provides, from street meals to very fancy and sophisticated restaurants. This blog is all about them.

Thali at Radheshyam, Lower Parel

Eating Joint: Radheshyam
Location: Lower Parel
Meal: Lunch/Dinner

Today, I am writing about a pure veg. restaurant named Radheshyam at Senapati Bapat Marg, Lower Parel. There is nothing great about this restaurant, but it is one of the places for daily eating.

If you stay or worked around this area and eat outside frequently (as I do), then you should try their thali. Their thali cost Rs 50/60 in Non-Ac/AC section.

Damage: Meal for two people in Radheshyam will cost around 100-200 Rs

*You will feel a stark difference in the service between AC and Non-AC section. I prefer to pay a little higher, but to go at their AC section.

Yucky Frankie at Churchgate Station

Eating Joint: Some Frankie Place
Location: Churchgate Station
Meal: Don't deserve to be Meal

Today, I went to Churchgate for a meeting, after the meeting I was quite hungry looking for some good street meals to satisfy the desires of my stomach and tongue. I didn't find much around and was in a hurry (otherwise would have gone for yummy Chinese Dosa), so came back to Curchgate station for catching the train.

I saw a frankie stall at the entry and mouth was full of water, as its long time since I had frankie. was veg, egg, chicken and mutton frankie option too. But I am an eggeterian so I had to choose from egg and veg frankie. I chose egg frankie and it was so bad that I still had that yuck feeling in my stomach and tongue. I dont even remember the name of the stall.

Damage: Truly a damage of Rs. 20-30 per frankie

Amar Juice Center, Vile Parle

Dear Reader,

Yesterday, We went to Amar Juice Center in Gulmohar Raod at Vile Parle. If you are Mumbai for some time you must have heard about Haji Ali Juice Center (I will be writing about this in another post) and the simplest way to describe Amar Juice Center, it's Haji Ali Juice Center for western suburb of Mumbai.

In the evening, there will be cars on both side of the roads from one red light to another. Also, a big line of people to collect their order.

We had Mustard Veg and Cheese Mushroom sandwich. Both of them were mouth watering. After this I had Pomegranate's (Anar) Juice and my friend had "Chiku Chocolate with Nuts" milk shake. I never heard of this combination but it comes out good.

This is great place for open hangout in the western suburb.

Meals for two people will cost around 200-300

Blue Frog, A great place for a great evening

Last to last weekend, a friend of mine visited my place from London for a day. He was going to take the night flight back, but we postponed it for next morning. Another friend from Pune joined us. We guys went to this restaurant - Blue Frog at Mathuradas Mill Compound, Lower Parel.

The restaurant was dimly lit with light blue background and seating arrangement was good. I should say the ambiance of the restaurant is one of the best I have seen. The crowd was very sophisticated and menu offers a wide variety of drink and food. I can't say much about the menu as I am a teetotaler and eggeterian and most of the items in the menu were non-veg or sea food but my friends did like their drinks menu.

The best thing about the restaurant is the live music, which is played every day but they have some special guest for the weekend and now you know why I talked about the seat arrangement. It was arranged in such a manner that every seat will get a good view of the center stage.

Although, the place is little costly with two persons billed around 800 bucks, you will feel every buck is worth going there. Its a great place to take your date or even wife. You can also take your clients to this place for dinner, especially if they are from outside India.

*You need to reserve tables in advance though, because they fill up real fast.

Egg Biryani at Ambiance, Lower Parel

Today, I went to a restaurant cum bar named "Ambiance" in Senapati Bapat Marg at Lower Parel. The main reason was to enjoy the Kings XI vs. Night Riders match.

In the start it looked like it was going to be very easy for Kings XI but in the last few overs when Dada (Ganguly) hit some big shots, the match becomes exciting. As usual when dada is in form, the sixes are in the row and Night Riders defeated Kings XI with 3 wickets. Its so much fun watching with so many dada's fans.

Dont go by the name Ambiance. It is just ok, and most of the time filled with cigarettes smoke as expected in any bar cum restaurant. I always go there to eat their del.icio.us egg biryani, but I tried their Panner tikka today. It was ok, but nothing compared to egg biryani. If you go their I recommend you should try their egg biryani, definetly if you are eggetarian.

This is a mid level restaurant with food cost comes around 200-300 for two person.

Chinese Dosa near Churchgate Station

Eating Joint: Road Side Stall
Location: Near Bombay Hospital, Churchgate
Meal: Lunch

Last Wednesday, I went to meet some homeopathic doctor in Bombay Hospital, near Chruchgate. While coming back to Churchgate station I found this usual street sandwich wala and Idli-dosa wala. I stopped to eat something from the idli-dosa wala and saw menu containing Chinese dosa.

I ordered one and it comes that its totally different from the one you got in usual restaurants and I should say that you will never regret a little walk if you are near Churchgate station to go and have a Chinese dosa from this food joint.

Damage: Most of their Uttapas and Dosas are priced between 15-25 Rs.
